HACKTHORN and COLD HANWORTH PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the meeting of Hackthorn & Cold Hanworth Parish Council held on Tuesday 1st September 2026 at 8pm in Hackthorn Village Hall
Present: Councillors Pickering (Chair), Cracroft-Eley, Bright, Finney and Marsden..
In attendance: The clerk and four members of the public.
1. Apologies for Absence – Cllr Graves.
2. Co-option of Councillor – Interest but not in attendance. Defer
3. To receive declarations of interest – There were no declarations at this point.
4. Minutes of meeting held on 14th July- Signed as a true record.
5. Chair and councils comments- All potholes have now been repaired to a satisfactory standard. The chairman reported on correspondence received from the school head and this was shared with council. He has also had discussions with a number of residents, some of whom were in attendance. At this point the chairman invited members of the public present to raise issues. Council was informed that parking by staff, sometimes for 12 hours a day was the main issue, although there had been instances where other cars had blocked drives. New lighting is the biggest problem to houses across the road from the school. It was agreed that a meeting be held between the school and two members of the council.
6. Clerk’s report on matters outstanding:- Enforcement issues have again been raised with WLDC. Reference number is PRB_862677709. Still no update from Highways re parking restrictions. Clerk confirmed she has completed re-declaration to Pension Regulator.
7. Reports from outside bodies:- No one in attendance.
8. Planning- None. No update on Scampton.
9. LCC Highways matters:- More potholes reported have been marked for repair. However, subsidence on Cold Hanworth Road is still an issue. Clerk to report again.
10. Financial matters: H. Pitman: £296.07: LALC £120. Payments approved.
11. To note general correspondence- None. Signpost to be asked to insert dates of bi-monthly meetings the month before they are due to occur.
12. To resolve on purchase of Microsoft 365 for council’s laptop:- Council resolved to purchase jointly with Spridlington Parish Council.
13. To further discuss interpretation panel for bus shelter:- Defer agenda
14. Items of information to be noted and if necessary to be dealt with at the next meeting:- Agenda items: Budget; Interpretation panel for bus shelter; School parking and security lights.
